Project overview
The aquatic center's circulation and filtration systems date to 1992 and now require increasingly frequent repair. Deck concrete has settled in several places, and the facility has no shade structure and no family or accessible changing rooms.
Design services are being procured under RFP 2026-07. Construction is expected to begin after the 2028 summer season so the pool stays open through two more summers.
Scope of work
- Replace pool circulation, filtration and chemical treatment systems
- Demolish and rebuild the pool deck with proper drainage
- Add a covered shade structure over the spectator area
- Build family and accessible changing rooms
- Replace the pool lift and add a second accessible entry to the instructional pool
- Upgrade the mechanical building and replace the pool heater

Project updates
Design proposals received
Five proposals were received in response to RFP 2026-07 by the September 11 deadline. A selection panel will interview finalists in late September and a recommendation goes to the Board on October 13.
RFP for design services issued
RFP 2026-07 for aquatic center modernization design services was issued August 24. Proposals are due October 2, 2026.
