Accessibility and accommodations
Every district program, facility and meeting is meant to be usable by everyone who lives here. Where something falls short, tell us and we will arrange what you need.
What you can expect
Our commitments
You never have to prove a disability
The district does not ask for medical documentation to provide an accommodation. Tell us what would help and we arrange it. Requests are handled confidentially by the ADA Coordinator.
Accommodations cost you nothing
Interpreters, including ASL, materials in large print or plain text, assistive listening receivers, and one-to-one inclusion support in programs are all provided at no charge.
Service animals are welcome everywhere
At every facility and in every program, including indoors and on the aquatic centre deck. Staff may ask only whether the animal is required because of a disability and what task it performs.
Notice helps, but late requests still get answered
Seventy-two hours for a meeting and two weeks for a program give us the best chance of arranging things well. Ask anyway if you have less time; we do what we can.
Barriers are tracked and removed on a schedule
The ADA transition plan lists every physical barrier identified across district facilities, with a removal priority and a target date. It is reviewed annually with the Accessibility Advisory Committee and published here.

This website
Digital accessibility
This website is designed and tested against the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines 2.1 at Level AA. That means keyboard access to every function, visible focus, text that reflows at 320 pixels and at 400 percent zoom, colour contrast that meets the minimum ratios, form errors described in text, and headings and landmarks that make sense with a screen reader.
Testing against a standard is not the same as certification, and we do not claim to be certified. If something here does not work for you, that is a defect and we want to know about it.
Documents
Most published PDFs have been remediated for tagging, reading order and contrast. Documents that have not are marked in the document library. Any document can be provided in a tagged, plain-text or large-print version at no charge, usually within three business days.
- Large print, minimum 18 point
- Tagged and remediated PDF
- Plain text or Word format
- Braille, by arrangement
- Audio recording, by arrangement
