These are the languages most often spoken by district residents. Assistance is not limited to them: the district arranges interpretation in any language on request.
What is available
Services the district provides
Interpretation at meetings and appointments
Spanish interpretation is provided at major district events and at any board meeting on request. Other languages, including ASL, are arranged with at least 72 hours notice. Telephone interpretation is available immediately for over 200 languages.
Translated documents
Key documents, including the program guide, fee assistance application, facility use application and accommodation request, are published in Spanish. Any district document can be translated on request at no cost.
Help by phone
Call the district office and say the language you speak. Staff connect a telephone interpreter and stay on the line. There is no cost to you and no limit on how long the call takes.
Help in person
Bilingual staff are on duty at the district office and at Willow Bend Senior Center. If nobody who speaks your language is available, staff use telephone interpretation at the counter.
Your rights
What you are entitled to
Language assistance is a right, not a courtesy. You are entitled to it at no cost, and asking for it can never affect how your request is handled, whether you get a place in a program, or anything else about your dealings with the district.
The district does not ask about immigration status in connection with any program, facility use or request for assistance, and does not record it.
If you were not offered an interpreter when you needed one, tell the Public Information Officer. That is a service failure and it should be logged.
